[Upon waking up, a few things were abundantly clear to the Joker. One - someone had stolen his clothes. This simply would not do - those suits were expensive! Two, he could breathe again, and his skin no longer looks like a giant rash. That's certainly a positive sign - he doesn't remember getting the cure to his Titan poisoning, or getting into that Lazarus Pit, but he's sure that it'll come back to him sooner or later. Three, it's apparent that he's not in Gotham any more - he's probably lived in Gotham all his life (at least, that's how he remembers it at the moment), and he's never seen this many trees in one place, barring Poison Ivy's attempts to "return the land to its natural state" or whatever hippie nonsense she was spouting.

Looking around to try and find where he is, it doesn't take long for him to find the journal, and a quick look-through gives him all the information that he needs. Being trapped in another world doesn't faze him as much as it would other people - on the contrary, he finds it kind of funny. Here he was, on the verge of breaking out of one walled-in city, and now he's been thrown into another one!]

[It doesn't take long for him to reach the town, grab a few necessary items from the stores, and break into a random apartment (though thankfully, it's unoccupied - not that it would have stopped him if it wasn't, but it's probably for the best), so he considers what to do next. As much as he'd like to make a grandiose gesture announcing his return to health, he decides to hold off - first impressions are important after all. Even if he decided to celebrate by gutting a few passers-by, people would think that he's a thug or someone like Zsasz, rather than seeing him for the criminal genius that he is. He'll hold off until he's got something that's worth doing. And speaking of first impressions...]

Greetings, Luceti! No need to fill me in on all the little details about this situation - I think I've got the gist of it. It was certainly inconsiderate of our hosts to drop me a forest in such miserable weather, but I don't mind. [Actually, he's thinking of ways to kill them right now.] I'll just consider this to be a nice vacation - I could certainly use one.

This place seems pitifully small, so I'm sure I'll run into most of you eventually. I hope that, when I do, I'll brighten your day - after all, I always manage to put a smile on the face of everyone I meet!

Exactly! I keep trying to tell my friend that, but he acts like he can make all of his problems go away by frowning at them. Hasn't really worked for him yet, but that doesn't stop him.

Mostly, he just throws himself into his work. A tad obsessed, really - we're all very worried about him.

Well...I patrol the forest, keeping an eye out for new arrivals or people who have returned from kidnappings, and assist them.

Otherwise, I practice Valega and continue my study of magic.

...No...but I can cast spells based on light and nature's elements. I can also heal wounds and cure other magical ailments with my staves.

[To him, that list sounds lame, but he's capable of faking an interest.]

So you just poke someone with a stick and they get better? That certainly would have come in handy!

It doesn't actually involve "poking," but they do get better.

Now, you said you were "studying" it - does that mean anyone can learn it?

...Yes. But it will take time, hard work, and dedication. It is not exactly easy. There are many little nuances involved, and the repercussions can be extremely dangerous when it is used carelessly.

[Generally, if something has horrible repercussions, he'll test it on his henchmen first, but aside from the minor issue of not having any henchmen yet, he wouldn't want them having some sort of hocus-pocus power go to their head and making them think they could run the operation.] What sort of repercussions are we talking about?

Obviously, it can harm other people and destroy buildings, trees, and such. It can also be harmful to the user, as using too much magic can drain both body and soul.

[And the Joker does not seem like a man with much control. So unless he's willing to test the latter repercussion on himself, Saleh would not recommend trying to learn his type of magic.]

Well, I don't have much of a body for it to drain, so I'm afraid I'll have to pass for now. [He doesn't have much of a soul, either, but losing that is inconsequential. Besides, causing random destruction is more for the psychos from Metropolis - he prefers a more "personal" touch.]

Yes...that would probably be for the best.

They seem to show up every two months. We refer to it as the New Feather Cycle.
